Aberdeen Angus

Aberdeen AngusThe Chapelton herd of Aberdeen Angus was established in the 2001 by Donald Biggar. The herd is based on the finest North American genetics blended with the best of U.K bloodlines. We have used well known North American sires including Ankonian Elixir, Vermilion Dateline, DMM Essoteric and Champion Hill Edition. The purchase of Retanach Exceptance in 2002 was fundamental in establishing a foundation of sound British bred females on which to build the herd. The importance of female lines in our selection cannot be overstated. Three of the bulls used recently are sons or grandsons of DMM Diamond Mist 8F in our opinion one of the best females in the breed. Current Herdsire Chapelton Watchword by Vermilion Dateline is an ET son of Reata Witchy Woman 11L a very successful daughter of Whitesone Widespread. The herd presently consists of around 75 cows a number we hope to increase.

Early successes for the Chapelton Herd include Eventer sold at Perth to Rosemount and Glenbervie herds for 23,000 gns. Chapelton sires can also be found at Tofts and Tree Bridge.

All Chapelton Aberdeen Angus stock are performance recorded from birth on the Breedplan system. Performance figures can be accessed through the society web site database.
